Google Meet

Google Meet is a video conferencing app allowing users to connect via video calls. The app is available on Android and iOS devices, as well as on the web. Google Meet offers a variety of features, including the ability to join meetings without an account, participate in group chats, and share your screen with other participants.

Updates

Google Meet, the video conferencing app from Google, recently received a few updates. The app allows users to join a meeting without a Google account and supports landscape mode on Android devices.

Other new features include seeing how many people are in a meeting and the option to turn off your video during a meeting. Google Meet is available for free on the Google Play Store.

Features

HD video and audio: Google Meet provides high-quality video and audio streaming, so users can see and hear each other.

Screen sharing: Users can share their screens in the meeting, making it easy to present documents or slideshows.

Recording: Meetings can be recorded and saved for later viewing. This is especially useful for team meetings or lectures.

Integration with Google Calendar: Google Meet integrates, making scheduling and joining meetings easy.

Pros

1. Ease of use: The app is straightforward to set up and use, even for those who could be more tech-savvy.

2. Compatibility: It is compatible with a wide range of devices and operating systems, so there is no need to worry about whether everyone in your meeting will be able to join in.

3. Free: Unlike many other video conferencing apps, Google Meet is free. This makes it an attractive option for businesses and individuals who want to save money on communication costs.

Cons

First, Google Meet requires a Google account to use it. This can be problematic for people who do not want to use their email addresses for work or do not have a Gmail account.

Secondly, the app can be glitchy and difficult to use at times.

Third, the video quality could be better, which can make it difficult to see other participants on the call.

How to use it?

1. To start a meeting, open the app and tap on the"Create Meeting"button to start a meeting. You will then be prompted to enter your name and email address.

2. Once you have done so, you will be able to invite others to join your meeting by entering their email addresses.

3. When you're ready to start the meeting, tap on the"Start Meeting"button. This will open up a video call, where everyone in the meeting can see and hear each other.

More

Google Meet offers a premium subscription that allows users to make unlimited video calls and use additional features such as group chat and screen sharing. While Google Meet is primarily designed for business users, it can also be used for personal purposes, such as keeping in touch with family and friends.

It was initially released in 2017 as part of the G Suite family of productivity apps. Google Meet allows users to connect with up to 100 other participants for video calls and provides features such as screen sharing and real-time captioning.
