Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network

Nextdoor is a social network that allows you to connect with neighbors and stay updated on what's going on around your area - it's like Facebook, but only your neighborhood can see what you share, which helps make it more neighborly.

Whether you need recommendations for the best local babysitter or want to find out about the free activities that are happening in your neighbourhood, Nextdoor can help get the word out!

Updates

The Nextdoor: Neighborhood network has weekly updates. The company is always looking for a way to make the app better, bug-free, and more fun.

One of the latest updates includes simplifying the app by removing duplicate links and changing outdated features. Also, the absence of commercial standards makes the platform simpler to use for everyone and makes it possible for neighbors and/or businesses to trade goods and services with one another.

PROS

Nextdoor is a free and private social network that connects you to your community.

Nextdoor uses an opt-in model, which means the only users who will be able to view your posts are the ones who want to hear from you.

Nextdoor is 100% mobile, so you can keep up with what's happening in your neighborhood wherever you are.

The interface is clean, uncluttered, and easy to use.

Nextdoor helps you stay connected with your neighbors by making it easy for you to post about local events, chat about neighborhood issues, or ask for help when needed.

CONS

The privacy settings are tricky; you can't choose who can see your posts and for how long. I've had a couple of posts get hacked by someone who found my post on Facebook, and then it appeared on their Nextdoor.

The website is buggy, sometimes posts don't go through, or it crashes.

It's a company that is selling to local businesses to advertise on the site, so not all of the content will be relevant to your neighborhood.
