If you've wanted to figure out how to get in touch with the IRS, then you have probably heard about the IRS2Go app. The IRS has been using this app as an additional form of communication, aside from the standard form letters that you may receive in the mail or email.

Updates

One of the latest updates of this app includes information regarding your last year's tax refund. Consequently, if you are looking for information on the status of a tax return from an earlier tax year, you can now use IRS2Go to check the status of a refund for a tax year that has already passed.

One other update is that when filing your taxes, it is no longer necessary to know the number of exemptions or dependents; these will be automatically calculated.

Another update is related to IRS2Go Direct Pay, where payments and refunds can be made without any fees.

The final update relates to the Self-Select PIN, which is used by taxpayers who have their own bank accounts and want to pay using their bank account instead of a credit card.

How to use it?

The app is free and straightforward, and it is available for Android and iOS devices. Just open the app, tap Continue, then Update News. To file your taxes on the go, tap File Taxes, then follow the instructions for filing online through a participating tax professional.

To take a picture of your W-2, just tap W-2 at the bottom of the screen, then follow the instructions to snap a pic. Once you've completed the information, you can either e-file your return or print it out. Finally, tap Done when finished.
